A tricky contest can go the way of St Andrews Storm, with Red Affleck, Best Game and Piddies Pride not out of it. When Richard Hannon puts one into this type of race, it generally pays to take notice, so St Andrews Storm, drawn right next to the stands side rail, is taken to come out on top. Although yet to open his account, the colt has taken on much better company in his time, having contested the Group 3 Horris Hill won by Cupid's Glory at Newbury last season, and more recently was down the field behind Mostashaar at the Royal Ascot at York meeting. Caught out by the sudden injection of pace in a Sandown claimer last time, he will benefit from a strong steady gallop today, and in the hope that the race pans out in his favour, the son of Storm Creek gets the vote. Red Affleck can help ensure a healthy pace, and having finished second in similar company last time, he may hang on for a place again. Best Game is another that can set this up for the selection judged on his all-the-way success in a moderate race at Carlisle, while Piddies Pride bombed out badly at Lingfield but has place claims on earlier form. St Andrews Storm has plenty going for him though, and there should be no excuses this time.
