Aahgowangowan has hinted at a return to form of late, and can land what on paper is a quite competitive handicap, with Taboor, Polar Force and Law Maker all potential dangers. Aahgowangowan is weighted right up to her best at present, but she has hinted at Chester and more recently Nottingham last week that her turn is near. The Michael Dods-trained mare was prominent throughout at Colwick Park, but found the concession of 11lbs to Party Princess too much of a burden, and if breaking quickly again, she should be in at the finish. Taboor has been in fine form lately, gaining back-to-back wins at Catterick and Newmarket, and he should be staying on late to figure also, while of the rest, Polar Force won a falsely-run race at Sandown and would prefer more give in the ground, and Law Maker's recent successes have been on the all-weather. However, both of the last-named could easily make their presence felt in a race of this nature. Holbeck Ghyll is improving with each run and has the in-form Eddie Ahern in the saddle, so is another for the mix along with He's A Rocket, but in a real conundrum, it is Aahgowangowan that gets the vote.
