Cantabria is the pick over a whole host of promising fillies, including Querida, Fabulous Bird and Diamond de Triano to name but three. The last three mentioned can all pay to follow, but Cantabria has has the benefit of an eye-catching run to her credit at Windsor three weeks ago and should be capable of going one better here. The daughter of Dansili picked up inside the final furlong to get within a neck of Jeanmaire, finishing six lengths clear of the third horse, and on this faster ground, Sir Michael Stoute's filly can go some way to justifying her entry in the Meon Valley Stud Fillies' Mile. Querida is a half-sister to Quito no less, and if she proves half as good as him in time, connections will be pleased. Fabulous Bird hails from a stable choc-full of speedy youngsters, while Diamond de Triano, as the name suggests, is a half-sister to the dual Guineas winner Rodrigo de Triano. This is yet another race in which the market will prove invaluable no doubt, but on the brief evidence, Cantabria should be winning sooner rather than later.
