Baldovina can make experience count in this wide open maiden against the unraced pair of Poor Nelly and Roclette. Barry Hills' Roclette is a daughter of classic winner Rock of Gibraltar, out of a mare who was a half sister to a French 1,000 Guineas winner. Understandably, she cost a quarter of a million dollars as a yearling and she can be expected to run well despite her lack of experience. John Dunlop introduces Poor Nelly, a daughter of Kings Best, who is out of a mare, Kootenay, who won three races over a mile or less. She is clearly bred for speed, but the trainer doesn't overface his two year olds first time out, so she may benefit from the racecourse experience. Baldovina's good second on her debut at Wolverhampton was a promising effort, and she is likely to have progressed from the run. Hailing from a small yard and taking on the big guns here she may represent some value in the market and Baldovina is a sporting choice to take this fillies' maiden.
