led until headed 1f out, faded well inside final furlong
pressed leader, every chance approaching final furlong, no extra inside final furlong
in touch, chased leaders an effort over 1f out, not quicken and kept on one pace
mid-division, ridden 2f out weakened over 1f out
behind, out paced and in rear halfway, never dangerous afterwards
started slowly, in rear, kept on same pace final 2 furlongs never nearer
dwelt behind, not troubled leaders over 1f out, weakened final furlong
held up mid-division, stayed on to chase leaders well inside final furlong and gaining near finish
dwelt, raced keenly, always behind, lost touch over 1f out
held up behind, good headway over 1f out, ran on strongly inside final furlong, just failed
chased leaders, ridden to lead 1f out, hard pressed and driven out near finish just held on
mid-division, ridden over 2f out, no impression over 1f out, soon weakened
Spoof Master is in good heart and gets the nod over Azygous and Desert Opal. That said, a move for Smokin Beau would also be interesting, as the veteran still loves his racing and, having adapted well to the surface at Kempton, he should not be underestimated in this company. Desert Opal has a good strike-rate and knows what to do to get his head in front. He is on an attractive mark just now and, as Liam Jones has already won on him three times, the portents look good for a bold effort. Azygous is another well handicapped individual and has little to find in this company. It is going on for two years since he last won a race, though. And that has to be a concern again today. Therefore, it can pay to look towards the top of the racecard for a more consistent type, with Spoof Master getting the nod of approval. The four-year-old has fewer miles on the clock than many of the rest and, as this is slightly easier than a number of his recent assignments, the Conor Dore-trained gelding is fancied to put one over on his elder rivals.
