Dark Moment is the one to beat whilst Quick Gourmet and Pacific Bay have clear claims but TWO TURTLE DOVES may be able to come home to roost. Alan Dickman's charge is well named with the fog seemingly descending as he, effectively, refused to race on consecutive outings in July but he returned to the fray in August sporting a pair of cheekpieces and hasn't looked back. He does, however, have softer ground and a 12lb penalty to contend with whilst there's always a worry that a leopard can't change its spots. Quick Gourmet paid for a good run in a maiden with an 8lb rise but the performance was over course and distance on soft ground so there's a redeeming factor. She's subsequently been held from her revised mark but connections have opted to claim seven which could make the difference. Pacific Bay went close over seven at Redcar and she may need this to be run at a decent clip if it's to bring her stamina into play although the soft ground may help if she handles it. The softer ground may bring Inthawain in to play and she looks well treated at present but a chance is taken on Two Turtle Doves as her pedigree suggests that she should appreciate a bit of cut and she ran well enough on her penultimate start to believe that she has the scope for this. Hawkeyethenoo and Moneysupermarket cannot be ignored but Two Turtle Doves may surprise.
