In depth

Verdict

An interesting little opener here where SPEAK THE TRUTH is taken to come good again at the main expense of Halaak and Agnes Love. The selection has been placed very well by trainer Jim Boyle to win five of his 12 starts this calendar year, and those successes include each of England's three Polytrack surfaces. He specialises over this minimum trip and despite being beaten from this mark last time, the winner has gone on to score again, so the form looks rock solid and he can get back to winning ways. Halaak represents a yard in superb form but she is raised 2lbs for making the frame at Epsom last time, and while she can get competitive she is unlikely to win from this mark on this surface. Note that her only two wins have come on the Fibresand. Agnes Love won over the minimum trip at Kempton last year, her only success, but she is very capable from this sort of mark and is likely to take home some prize money. Mazzola attempts to bring to an end a 17-race losing streak but he has finished no better than third in six previous attempts on artificial surfaces and despite his low mark he is hard to enthuse about. Chris's Jem is not easy to assess but on the face of it a Folkestone maiden win in the spring has left her with a mark that she cannot cope with. Rebecca De Winter has possibilities now dropped to such a low mark and the market will give us a clue as to stable confidence, but Speak The Truth will take some beating.
