TINAAR beat an improver at Newmarket last time and with just a 3lb rise he is a confident selection to follow-up, with the Mark Johnston-trained pair Yes Mr President and Lady Jane Digby the likely dangers. This is a really good contest for the track and both of those trained at Middleham are rated 106 and 107 respectively, giving it a real classy look. The former was the easy winner of a Ffos Las handicap over two miles last month, but was found wanting in the Group 3 Sagaro Stakes at Ascot last time. He may find this trip a little on the sharp side and would want rain to be at his best, so we will oppose tonight. Lady Jane Digby was last seen taking a German Group 3 in August and she does get home over this trip, having finished runner-up in this race last year. A sound surface suits her best and she is unlikely to lack for fitness, so she is feared. Trip The Light has conditions and trip to suit, but is handicapped to the hilt, though Stanstill is not beyond improvement, though will need some if he is to produce the lifetime best he needs here. Therefore, we will return to Tinaar. Gerard Butler's filly dispensed with Chiberta King at Newmarket and is so far proven on good ground or slower. This trip is ideal and he looks to have got off lightly with that 3lb rise, so we will side with him.
