KELLYS EYE represents a yard in form and can improve for the step up in trip to win this at the main expense of Whispered Times and Glen Shiel. The David Brown-trained pick went very well on his handicap debut at Beverley earlier in the month, keeping on well to finish runner-up. Bred to get further, this 6f should be ideal for now and with natural improvement to come after that reappearance he can score. Whispered Times won at Newcastle and Redcar in the space of a week and is now a prohibitive-looking 13lbs higher than that first success. Even so, this distance is clearly his optimum and he has a course win to his name, so we give him plenty of respect. Glen Shiel was prepared by Mark Johnston to win a Ffos Las maiden in September and the handicapper has taken few chances in giving him a mark of 77 for his handicap debut. Even so, anything that the trainer runs here needs due consideration and it would be no surprise to see him go very close. Flaneur has ability and represents a yard that had a double here recently, so a market check is advised, while Michael Dods, who saddles Commanche Raider, is on fire at present, meaning that his Catterick maiden winner enters calculations, though Kellys Eye can be number one.
