An interesting staying contest and Croix De Guerre looks to have a winning opportunity, with Commemoration Day respected and Colwyn Bay and Theatre Royal others who could go well. Philip Hobbs-trained Croix De Guerre has not been seen out on the level for almost three years, during which time he has carved out a decent career over the sticks. This return to the flat is certainly eyecatching and as one who acts on top of the ground and relishes a stamina test, this 132-rated chaser can score. Commemoration Day is another coming back from the National Hunt game and on his form under rules he'd have to find over a sonte-and-a-half with the selection. Nonetheless he has some useful more recent flat form to his name and should not be far away. Colwyn Bay is a consistent type who will prefer this ground to when he was a beaten favourite on good to soft at Ayr last time and we expect a better run, while Theatre Royal is an interesting runner who is stepped up considerably in trip and that may well elicit further improvement, so watch the market there for clues, but Croix De Guerre looks to have been found a good opportunity here and can go in.
