Starstruck Peter and Saxona both have 6lb penalties to carry for their recent successes and the latter in particular may struggle to follow up having won by the narrowest of margins in a maiden handicap last week so a safer option looks to be SAND REPEAL. Julia Feilden's gelding was good value for his success over course and distance last month and he is taken to defy the lenient 2lb rise for that success. Star Of Pompey looks well treated back on turf off just a 1lb higher mark than when successful at Kempton last time, especially as Andy Haynes has his team in fair form right now. Jamie Poulton's Whitcombe Spirit ran better at Newcastle last time but needs to improve to trouble the judge, while David Gandolfo's Phoenix Hill is only plating class over timber and is not much better on the flat but he only found the selection too good here last time and cannot be discounted after that effort. Jim Best's Starstruck Peter has more to do under his penalty than when successful at Chepstow last time and preference is for Sand Repeal, who is taken to record a second successive course and distance victory.
