Verdict

Unless one of the two newcomers proves to be out of the ordinary, with Bobble Rock looking the pick of them, this looks a virtual match between CARBON HOOFPRINT and Silk Trail with preference for the former. The selection did not race as a two-year-old but has shown a decent level of form this term at the age of three in maidens and, in his last two starts, in handicaps when finding just one too good. Peter Makin's gelding looks to have solid claims of going one better today. Bobble Rock would be preferred to Spring Bridge of the two newcomers, while Mick Channon's Kessraa needs to improve dramatically on his juvenile form to get involved at the business end of the race. Godolphin's Silk Trail deserves to get her head in front having been placed in all four starts so far but she is rated 2lb less than Carbon Hoofprint on official BHA ratings and Peter Makin's runner looks the safest option.
