In depth

Verdict

Active Asset has a nice racing weight but has a tendency to find at least one too good and Mick Channon's gelding may do so again so preference is for Alessano, who is preferred to High Dyke and Chantaco. The last mentioned is relatively lightly raced and handles cut in the ground so there could well be more to come from Andrew Balding's colt. He certainly makes more appeal than Missatacama, who has failed to progress as much as may have been anticipated and seems a shade high in the weights now. The booking of Kieren Fallon for Inside Story takes the eye but he is not certain to handle the cut in the ground and of more interest may be High Dyke, who showed signs of temperament when refusing to leave the stalls at Epsom last time but has claims on earlier form. The vote though goes to Alessano who has a 6lb penalty for his narrow win at Goodwood last time but as that was the first time that Gary Moore's gelding had raced since May there could well be plenty of improvement to come.
