In depth

Verdict

Don Jose, Poseidon Adventure and Distinctive Voice are the three for the shortlist here, and with little to go on, it seems a safe bet to rely on an Aiden O¿Brien runner in the form of Poseidon Adventure. John Gosden¿s Don Jose was a promising fifth at Leicester behind Under The Rainbow, only beaten just over a length. That was a good effort and with the stable in good form he can be expected to improve. Godolphin enjoyed a double earlier in the week and they have a live chance here with Distinctive Voice. He was made the 3-1 favourite on his Sandown debut and finished a staying on third to Looker. The winner has franked the form since by running well in better company and Distinctive Voice must go well. On the face of it Poseidon Adventure¿s form doesn¿t amount to much but his second at Tipperary on his debut may in time turn out to be a decent effort. He comes from a powerful yard, and being by Sadlers Wells he should appreciate the give underfoot. Poseidon Adventure can land the opener.
