Verdict

Despite edging up the ratings ROLY BOY is the pick to land this ahead of River Captain and Cosmic Sun. Early indications suggest it may well prove better to be drawn on the far side as the meeting progresses. Stepped up to a mile for the first time at Newmarket on his last outing, the selection was ridden to get the trip, being held up out the back before being delivered late. Having proven a mile is within his grasp, he is likely to be ridden with more confidence over this easier mile and can land this nursery. River Captain carries a 6lb penalty after winning a Bath nursery last time. This will prove much tougher but he is improving while Frankie Dettori boasts an impressive strike rate from a small number of rides aboard the trainer's juveniles over the last number of seasons. Cosmic Sun is bidding to end the sequence of seconds beside his name but to question his attitude would be unfair. The step up to a mile will suit as he simply found the seven furlongs at Chester too sharp last time. Thunderball put his experience to good use when landing a Great Leighs maiden last time out but won't get a soft lead on the front end here while Battle Of Hastings landed some tidy bets when scoring at Newmarket last time out. It is competitive but Roly Boy - despite being more exposed than most - has the most solid form and can land it.
