Verdict

Two-year-old sellers at this time of year are notoriously difficult to solve but our idea of the winner is CALORMEN who gets the call from the David Evans pair Little Nuthatch and Welsh Dresser. Mick Channon took this last year with Vilnius and looks to have a good opportunity to follow up. His colt showed promise on his debut at Folkestone before disappointing last time, but he's worth another chance down at this level with better ground set to bring about a better effort. It'll be interesting to see what the market says about Little Nuthatch and Welsh Dresser with both representing David Evans. The first-named comes from a modest family but is bred to be at her best around this trip whilst her stablemate Welsh Dresser ran with some promise on her debut when fourth in a claimer last week. On balance we'd side with the latter as the biggest threat to our pick, with the likelihood of improvement to come following a reasonable start. Soviet Bolt was a long way behind that day despite having had the benefit of previous experience and can be confidently opposed along with Copex who split the pair, although the last mentioned could improve. Tanked Up is an interesting newcomer and along with Mrs Nisbett needs a market check, but we're happy to side with Calormen in this.
