FATHOM FIVE is preferred here to Fol Hollow, Holbeck Ghyll and Rocket Rob in a competitive opening handicap. Chris Wall's gelding makes his seasonal reappearance this afternoon and won this race last year off a 2lb higher mark. He wasn't able to win after that success but ran several good races in defeat in better company and with an excellent record in the springtime he should prove hard to beat. Holbeck Ghyll is another course and distance winner but he only saw the racetrack once last season. He has evidently had his injury problems but is a talented horse and is considered despite a high-looking handicap mark. Fol Hollow has been in fair form since coming back to the track this year and is considered with Billy Cray able to claim five pounds, Hoh Hoh Hoh looks fairly handicapped on this return to the turf and Jamie Spencer is an eye-catching jockey booking, whilst Rievaulx World represents a yard in good form and should come on for his latest run at Southwell. Indian Trail has some excellent form on downhill tracks to his name, Rocket Rob has a devastating turn of foot when on song and represents a highly progressive yard, whilst the drop back in trip will suit Bertoliver as he returns to turf. An open race, but preference is for last-year's winner Fathom Five.
