A race as poor as the act that it's named in honour of but a good opportunity for EARL WILD to get off the mark, possibly at the expense of Lexi's Boy; newcomers Riverdale and Kinlochrannoch wouldn't have to be special to score first time up. Howard Johnson is having a decent year with his flat runners, a point underlined by the win of Cathedral Spires in a similarly weak maiden on Friday. Earl Wild has shown a professional attitude throughout both runs despite twice finding one too good, and as this stiff finish should suit we expect him to win this well. Lexi's Boy wasn't beaten far behind a smart sort on the polytrack last time, but there have to be concerns surrounding this drop back in trip as he looks to lack a yard of pace. Riverdale is related to a couple of horses who won races as juveniles and Anne Duffield's 33% strike-rate with such horses here certainly catches the eye; he looks the stable pick ahead of Tom Bowler who trailed in last on debut. Kinlochrannoch is a cheaply bought filly who probably needs a greater test of stamina while Chestival is a 53-rated performer who'll need to improve. A weak affair, but a great chance for Earl Wild to score.
