In depth

Verdict

Abolition gets the nod to win at the third attempt ahead of Carnival Dream and Solent Ridge. The selection was a red-hot favourite at Newcastle last time out but was easily held back in fourth place. The winner of that contest has gone on to frank the form in no uncertain terms by winning the Chesham at Royal Ascot on Saturday and with the experience of that run behind him, Abolition looks sure to mount a bold run, especially as this step up in trip looks a good move. Solent Ridge was unfancied on debut but ran a race full of promise and if handling today's softer conditions, another good run can be expected. Carnival Dream seems to be improving with racing and Alan Berry's runner has place claims, although this stiff seven might not suit. At a price newcomers Midnight Muse and Lady See should be watched in the market, however for the winner we will side with Abolition.
