In depth

Verdict

Cape Royal has pace to burn but that isn't ideal on this track and so Namir gets the vote ahead of Kay Two. The selection has won over course and distance and is suited by courses with a stiff finish (has also won at Pontefract amongst others) and with the ground to suit, he looks sure to mount another bold bid. Whilst he is 6lbs above his highest winning mark, he is in good spirits and gets the nod. Kay Two could never land a blow last time out at York in a much better race than this and based on his previous runs, he looks capable of going very close with his good early toe. The draw is a funny point here as the 'high draw' theory has been shot to bits lately and one can only guess how it will fare today. Prince Namid and Artie have both won over course and distance but the latter returns from a long lay-off. Canadian Danehill is more at home on the all-weather and so for the winner we will nominate Namir.
