Lennel turns out quickly after his midweek second at Catterick, and in a poor race can make amends, with Classic Event, Considine and Spitting Image all closely matched on form. In truth none of these can be backed with confidence, and it is only because the rest are hard to fancy that Lennel is selected. Alan Bailey's charge did at least stick to his task well when third to Hilltime over a mile and a half on Wednesday, and is worth a try over today's trip. He had higher rated opponents behind when scoring over 10 furlongs here last August, and with Slip Anchor's influence on the dam's side, there is no reason why he should not stay on his first attempt at two miles. Classic Event and Considine must both carry 10st and are closely matched with Spitting Image on recent running at Redcar where the latter came out on top. That was a moderate contest to say the least and none of that trio make too much appeal, with Considine probably favoured the most here. Alan Swinbank's runner Manhattan Jack is still a maiden but is worth a second glance stepped up to this trip, and any support Mick Easterby's Cottam Grange should be heeded as he has carried big weights over hurdles in the past. Bets are best kept on the small side here, but hopefully Lennel can make the frame at least.
