Verdict

An interesting affair can go to Flight Captain, with Critic and Confidential Lady seen as the main dangers. Despite having had just the one run so far, Flight Captain makes plenty of appeal here as that sole outing was in Listed company. Pitched in at the deep end against Championship Point and company in the Chesham Stakes at the Royal meeting at York 18 days ago, the son of In The Wings was slowly away, but acquitted himself well in the end, finishing only seven lengths behind the winner. Being a half-brother to The Geezer, he should improve next year, but in the meantime can make his mark here. Michael Bell has bigger fish to fry shortly at Sandown with Motivator, but will be confident of Critic giving a good account of himself. He finished well from a low draw at Doncaster last time and the extra furlong today will help his cause. The stable won this last year as well with Gypsy Johnny. Confidential Lady did not beat much at Catterick but stuck to her task well, and as her stablemate Dream Fantasy had previously beaten Gamesters Lady at Musselburgh, Sir Mark Prescott will be confident of beating that one at least. She is on the upgrade but at the likely odds is worth taking on. Jeu de Mot could be useful but is bred to want further and we prefer to take a chance on Flight Captain who is set to run a big race.
