Verdict
Waterside takes a drop in class and Gary Moore is a canny trainer especially in claimers so he gets the vote ahead of Efidium and Nevada Desert. The selection was second last time out in a class three handicap at Ascot and will find this company a lot easier. The eight-year-old isn't getting any younger but with a record of 16 wins and 21 places in 85 starts means that he is a customer to be feared and having won on soft and run well on heavy ground in the past, he is taken to score. Richard Whitaker's Nevada Desert has won on heavy ground and he is another who takes a big drop in class; he must warrant plenty of respect. Moonlight Man acts on this ground so should be monitored for support in the betting, whilst Efidium is maybe not quite as good as some of these but is proven over course and distance. Punta Galera comes into the reckoning but his two wins have come on a quicker surface and so we will return to Waterside as the selection.
