PHOTOGRAPHIC is marginally preferred to Brief Encounter and Tartan Gunna. Dark Mischief may have let Enact's form down at Salisbury when reappearing under a penalty but that wasn't his running and the initial impression created was that the Newmarket race was a decent contest. Enact was only beaten half a length there and is sure to come on for the run although a 6lb rise and the fact that she was a little free tempers confidence; Tobond was behind that day but should get closer with this longer trip sure to suit. There was plenty to like about the performance of Photographic on lightning fast ground at Newmarket where she still looked a little green. She knuckled down well once meeting the rising ground and looks more than capable of winning from her revised mark. Stablemate North East Corner won his maiden impressively before failing to run his race in the Somerville Tattersall Stakes; he's better than that and could be better than his initial mark. Tartan Gunna is tough and progressive and proved at Chester that he's capable of scoring from this mark when second to Fareer whilst Brief Encounter wasn't too far behind Fareer when reappearing at Newbury in April. The ground may have been softer than ideal there and he has to be on the short-list but we'll take Photographic to add to Barry Hills' good record in this handicap.
