The return to this trip will see Imposing off the bridle earlier than many but he is not to be ignored coming from off the pace, however WIGMORE HALL looks a huge player off his light weight and is selected ahead of Royal Destination, Forte Dei Marmi and Desert Kiss. It wasn't Jamie Spencer's finest moment when the selection was beaten by a whisker in the Hampton Court Stakes at Ascot. Martin Lane is booked to do the light-weight this afternoon and this 101-rated gelding will love the big field and solid tempo that normally prevails. Forte Dei Marmi has won two of his last three and a 6lb rise for beating Sweet Lightning at Redcar may prove to be lenient. He fits the profile of previous winners and with the ground to suit should be in the first three. Hillview Boy is better than his last run at Haydock but looks high enough in the weights, Albaqaa is just one of five Richard Fahey arrows that is launched at the bull's-eye and along with Demolition looks the pick of the brigade, whilst Desert Kiss chases a hat-trick after wins at Doncaster and Chester. A 5lb penalty sees the mare respected off a feasible mark. Sandor ran well behind Cill Rialaig at Ascot and is respected, along with Sweet Lightning and the likeable Imposing. Both ran good races in that Ascot race and the latter especially is respected given his progressive profile but he will need the gaps late on as if he were to get stopped in his run he would struggle to pick them up. Godolphin have a good record on the Knavesmire so Emirates Champion is fancied to run well if ready to roll after his break; he was in winning form in Meydan when last seen and is considered accordingly along with his consistent stablemate Sopranist last spotted in Dohar. Distant Memories won well here last time and holds a few of his rivals on that win, whilst the feeling is that the runs of Kings Gambit and Indian Days behind Rainbow Peak at Ascot will work out well. A typically tough renewal with several trainers looking for repeat wins in the race, however the feeling is that Wigmore Hall can give Michael Bell a first win in the race.
