DAY OF THE EAGLE can get back the Ascot losses at the main expense of Webbow, Capponi, Osteopathic Remedy and Mac's Power in a very competitive handicap. Luca Cumani's gelding went off as a joint favourite for the Buckingham Palace Stakes but was hampered and eased late on to eventually finish second-last. The return to a mile will be in his favour and he still looks capable of improving enough to win off his current rating of 92. Webbow is consistent but he hasn't won since August 2007, Osteopathic Remedy is a strong traveller who rates a danger if getting the gaps when needed, whilst Charlie Cool is a course winner and should be happier back in the north after an unsuccessful jolly to Sandown last time. Kiwi Bay is another who can bounce back from a poor last run, whilst Mac's Power sauntered home at Doncaster last time and even an 8lb higher mark may leave him well-treated. He was two lengths behind the selection at Newmarket in May but is 8lbs better off today and is entitled to get a lot closer. Also of interest is the unexposed and progressive colt Capponi. Mark Johnston has his horses in great nick and this three-year-old is only up 3lb for his Carlisle win last time. He has a good draw for a prominent racer and with his 9lb weight for age allowance he should go close. Justonefortheroad's form is solid and he might not be handicapped out of it just yet, whilst Keys Of Cyprus and Toto Skyllachy have been holding their form well in the north of late. Interesting stuff then but preference is for Day Of The Eagle.
