The Tatling can come out on top in this Listed affair, with Celtic Mill, Orientor, Fayr Jag and Gift Horse all seen as major rivals. This looks another tight renewal, but The Tatling has been taking on good company again this term, most recently over the course-and-distance when sixth, beaten four-lengths to Reverence in the Nunthorpe. He had four of today's rivals behind then, namely Orientor, Fayr Jag, Gift Horse and Mecca's Mate, so should have them beaten again, and a bigger danger may well be the latter's stablemate Celtic Mill, winner of this prize two years ago. David Barker's charge limbered up for today by landing a conditions event at Windsor, and will be primed to run a big race. Just going back to Fayr Jag-his stable have won this race twice in the past 10 years, so he should not be underestimated, and Dandy Nicholls saddles three here, with Gift Horse the best of them. As mentioned though, he has already finished behind The Tatling, and may suffer the same fate here, as Milton Bradley's nine-year-old, a proven Group performer, bids to stamp his class on the field.
