Market Day should appreciate the return to seven furlongs today having been outpaced over six at Newmarket last time but Luca Cumani's string is struggling for winners at present and she may be a shade high in the weights so preference is for Silkie Smooth, who is preferred to Voodoo Moon. The last mentioned represents solid nursery form having been placed in his last two starts in this grade but Mark Johnston's filly has gone up another 2lbs for her latest run at Chester and she may be booked for a place at best. Jane of Arc makes her debut in this grade after three starts in maidens but is likely to do better over middle distances next term, while Bright Moon has paid the penalty at the hands of the handicapper for her Sandown success. The vote then goes to the Barry Hills-trained Silkie Smooth, who has a progressive profile and ran well when chasing home a 90-rated rival (the pair clear) at Chester last time. The daughter of Barathea looks well treated off a mark of 82 judged by that effort at Chester and she is the selection.
