In a very weak sprint handicap, the consistent Mimic should prove tough to beat; the opposition does not have a great deal to recommend, and Miss Poppets could prove best of the rest. The latter does not look particularly well treated on her handicap debut, but David Elsowrth's filly should at least have more scope than most. Angel Annie was a shock winner at Lingfield a few weeks ago but has struggled since, while Westmead Tango's win came in an all-weather seller and she has been absent for six months since. Charlottebutterfly looks thoroughly exposed, so it is hard to look past Rae Guest's Mimic, who won over this trip at Warwick in June and has been running fairly well in better company since then. She is only two pounds higher than when third to the progressive Musical Fair, and her run at Hamilton last time can be forgiven as that was over the minimum trip. This extra furlong is what Mimic needs and she gets a confident vote to score under Seb Sanders.
