Apex should have learnt enough to land the opener at the expense of Boogie Street and City Affair. Ed Dunlop's colt shaped well on his Goodwood introduction, finishing on the heels of the leaders, and again showed promise on his next start at Salisbury, despite sweating up and having to contend with a bad draw. Entered for big juvenile events at Redcar and Newmarket this autumn, the son of Efisio now has the assistance of Kieren Fallon for this drop back in trip, that is not seen as a problem. Richard Hannon always does well here and Boogie Street will have his supporters after an encouraging debut behind Mutawaffer at Ascot recently. He looked like the winner a furlong out so he too will not mind the drop back to the minimum distance. City Affair was a beaten favourite at Carlisle, never going well on the soft ground and is better judged on his racecourse bow at Ayr where he caught the eye in third after missing the break. He too should make his presence felt, but Apex is taken to score at the third time of asking.
