From a shortlist that also contained Nazaaha, Donna Giovanna and Miss Lope, we decided to opt for Kut. The Jeremy Noseda-trained Kut cost 48,000 guineas and showed promise when seventh in a better event than this at Newmarket over six furlongs on his debut. Market support would be interesting and he would not have to be exceptional to land the winner's purse here. The best of Art Elegant's form rates in the low-60s and he acts here so gets respect, while Nazaaha's second over course and distance last time can be rated around the 65 mark, which puts her in with chances too. Chief Commander's short-head second over course and distance last time means that he could be good for some money, while, from a mark of 73, Donna Giovanna ran quite well from a poor draw in a Lingfield Polytrack nursery last time, and she is not without a chance. Finally, Miss Lopez was noted making late headway on her debut here over a furlong-shorter trip and, with improvement seemingly guaranteed, she is afforded plenty of respect. Overall, though, if the betting gives the thumbs up, we will side with Kut.
