Mark Brisbourne's decision to drop Thoughtsforstardom back into selling company is expected to pay dividends over the minimum trip. Bought out of Karl Burke's yard after breaking the juvenile course record in a seller in October, Thoughtsforstaradom has proved disappointing since being stepped up in trip and class. Brisbourne, who loathes sticking blinkers on his charges, even resorted to applying a set of blinkers for the gelding's latest start, a 0-85 handicap. This a major drop in class and Brisbourne has removed the blinds. Even allowing for the fact that Thoughtsforstardom may have not trained on - a distinct possibility - at least he has won a race, a fact not many can claim in this modest contest. It's surprising, and slightly offputting, that Charley's Aunt, claimed out of Nick Littmoden's yard after winning a claimer, is plunged straight back into a seller. The form of the race is questionable - the front two in the market never performed - and Jim Boyle, the filly's handler, has gone off the boil have enjoyed a purple patch in the lead up to Christmas. The drop back a furlong also appears a negative for the daughter of Prince Charlemange. Joint top weight Pauvic, second on BHB ratings behind Thoughtsforstardom, shown little on a recent run at Southwell but the filly should be better suited to the Polytrack and can be given a squeak based on her victory over Tombalina, an event that has yielded winners. Those looking for a long shot could chuck a few shekels at Milton Bradley's Bermuda Beauty, but the drop in class can prove decisive for Thoughtsforstardom.
