In depth

Verdict

WAKITA should open the evening on a winner and gets the nod with Tri Chara and Sion Hill also likely to feature. The selection has taken to the polytrack well after landing a very modest contest here in October and she could have scored in her native Ireland two runs before but jinked in the home straight when challenging. Its hard to know how good that form is with the winner yet to race again but this five-year-old should have too much for her 12 opponents. Tri Chara is given chances after his improved showing over a similar trip here last time. Not reassessed for that victory by the handicapper the gelding has very chance at a repeat performance. That said inconstancy has been his Achilles heal of late which is why the verdict goes elsewhere. Sion Hil for John Harris will look to dominate from the front and if that happens he should trouble the judge. That fact is vital though as in his last outing he was unable to get to the front and placed in third of 10 runners. That last outing was the seven-year-old's best performance since May and as well as having to dominant he'll have to give weight to his main rivals. Keep Your Distance is still a maiden but has shown much more in his last two starts when placing on both occasions in similar company. The latest was over a mile two furlongs at Great Leighs and the step down in trip will be in his favour. Red Current runs off a rating much lower than his turf mark where he won a weak contest at Leicester and has to be respected but Wakita is the selection.
