A reasonable handicap where BOOKIESINDEX BOY can again come good, while Green Lagonda and Desperate Dan will not be short of support. The selection is a good degree better on this surface than he is on turf, on which he made the frame at Chepstow last time. All three of his career starts have come from higher handicap marks than today's 65, he has a good draw in stall two, and he comes from the in-form John Jenkins stable, so we will give him the nod. Desperate Dan has been a good servant to connections, with 15 career wins from just 83 starts, six of which have come over this course and distance. Clearly one to respect when turning out at Dunstall Park, he is back on a winning mark and if able to overcome a poor draw he should be bang there at the business end. Green Lagonda has scored here over 6f and comes to the race in good recent form, although a draw out in stall 11, plus a rating that is plenty taxing-enough for him mean we will oppose tonight. Peninsular War merits close scrutiny. He hails from the Richard Fahey team that are, as usual, going well, and he tries this surface for the first time as a maiden after 10 turf outings. A slowly slipping mark gives him a bit better chance now and he is one to consider, especially if supported. Course and distance winner Spic 'N Span should be competitive, but will want a lifetime best handicapping effort to win and we'll side with Bookiesindex Boy.
