    Verdict

Money for Shanghai Star or Easterly Breeze would be interesting, however the vote is given to CANTON ROAD. The selection shaped better in defeat last time out at Southwell when held behind Eightdaysaweek. That was in first-time blinkers and although he goes without the accompanying tongue-tie this evening, the feeling is that this well-bred gelding should give a bold show. Playful Asset is likely to be popular given the jockey booking but she is likely to be a false price and she has stamina to prove anyway, so a bigger threat should be Ghufa for whom the return to this trip would be likely to be a plus. Easterly Breeze tries the blinkers for the first time and the step back up in trip could feasibly suit; George Baker looks an intriguing jockey booking. Front-runner Wind Flow would be a danger if allowed a soft lead but of late he has been doing too much in front, and therefore the 72-rated Shanghai Star looks of more interest with a claiming jockey easing his burden. Carmel Maria represents shrewd connections so it might be wise to not take too dogmatic a stance about her chances given the fact she has lots to find on the ratings. Tricky stuff really, but preference is for Canton Road.
