Verdict

Richard Hannon can land this contest for the third year running with WHOATEALLTHEPIUS taken to get the better of Johnny Hancocks and Darwin Star. Our selection ran well for fourth on her debut behind a horse who has since gone in again and is set to go to Royal Ascot, whilst her stablemate Two Feet Of Snow who finished second has also won in the interim, giving the form a strong look. This is a drop in grade and with Richard Hughes taking over in the saddle it'd be some surprise were this daughter of Antonius Pius unable to feature at the finish. Johnny Hancocks has suggested he's up to winning a small race more than once and he's bred to get the sixth furlongs at the first time of asking. It's a concern connections have already tried headgear, which is left off this time, but he's been solid so far and should run well again. Darwin Star has a bit to find with our pick on their meeting at Newbury but she's another with place claims with conditions ideal, whilst Crown Ridge will find this easier than the fair maidens he's been contesting. He might want further already though and is taken on along with stablemate Bert And Ernie who trailed home last on his debut when totally unfancied. Battenberg is tried in blinkers for the first time and is ruled out on account of her trainer's modest record with juveniles, with Richard Hannon's altogether positive record with two-year-olds and in this particular race that's enough for us to side with Whoateallthepius.
