There's no doubt that ROMAN GLORY sets the standard and it will be a huge disappointment to all involved if he can't win his maiden. Standpoint and Falcon Rock are the obstacles that he'll have to overcome. Defeat in a Brighton maiden may have appeared disappointing at first but the winner finished in the frame in the Lingfield Oaks Trial on Saturday so it would appear that he was just unfortunate to bump into a good one. The form of his other races is working out well enough too as, prior to Brighton, he was third to Listed winner Redwood when in front of Above Average. Standpoint has returned a beaten favourite on all three starts since making his debut and clearly has his limitations but it's debateable whether the difference of 22lbs in the official ratings is a true reflection of the gap in their ability. It's difficult to look beyond that pair with Falcon Rock likely to be seen to better effect once handicapping following two runs in the French provinces for his previous trainer and it's difficult to know where Roman Glory could go next if he can't win this.
