In depth

Verdict

CASTELLINA has an outstanding chance at these weights and gets the nod ahead of Moonlight Man and Polish Power. The Eddie Creighton-trained selection appears to go on any surface and put in a very good performance in context when runner up in a Chepstow claimer last time out. This trip looks to be ideal and a reproduction of that run would make her very tough to beat in receipt of weight from all her rivals here. Moonlight Man won a Beverley handicap off 73 last June, the trip being a mile on that occasion, and Conor Dore has kept him to around that distance since. His best effort of late was in this grade at Southwell last time and he is worth a try back over this far with stamina on his dam¿s side, so he is not ruled out. Polish Power gets every yard and more of today¿s trip and loves it around here. He would need a searching gallop to be seen to best effect and if he gets that he will be bang there. Cactus King looks best of the rest with first-time headgear but has thus far been unconvincing beyond a mile and we prefer the claims of Castellina.
