In depth

Verdict

Ouzbeck gets the call over The Package, Red Birr and Chrysander to name but a few promising individuals. Alan King already has his team of jumpers in fine fettle, and that augurs well for the chance of Ouzbeck, a winner on the Flat when trained in France. He shaped well on his British debut at Wincanton in February when fourth to Osana, and although he will benefit from a longer trip on breeding, is taken to come back with a bang. The Package overcame trouble-in-running to land a Towcester bumper on his debut back in April, and is sure to have been well schooled, while Red Birr has more experience over timber than stablemate Merchant Red, and could be in the shake-up as well. Chrysander has been off since contesting a valuable Flat handicap at Sandown in July and will appreciate softer conditions than this, while Shore Thing is another Flat recruit that will have been schooled well. Khachaturian takes a big drop in grade and is yet another to mention, but we shall remain loyal to the King stable with Ouzbeck.
