NORTHERN FLYER is a speculative choice. In-form pair Mohawk Ridge and Diamond Daisy also make the shortlist, while Tropical Duke seems to be getting the hang of things and, having won at Redcar last month, he is one to be wary of from the foot of the racecard. Diamond Daisy, on the other hand, has top weight to contend with after a steady rise this season. The Ann Duffield-trained filly is a course and distance winner but does need to conclusively prove she handles cut in the ground. Mohawk Ridge waded through the mud to score at Hamilton last time out and, from a 5lb higher mark, has to be respected. The conditions ought to be ideal and the Michael Dodds-trained three-year-old may be the biggest danger to the selection. However, Northern Flyer has strung together a series of solid efforts and, having proved he gets a mile well, this could be the day to give the son of Hawk Wing another chance to shine.
