Verdict
After an eye-catching performance in a much better race at Sandown last week, Hurricane Floyd is fancied to get the better of likely favourite Quito, with What A Dancer and Cardinal Venture also worthy of note. The selection is extremely well treated on some of his old form, not least when runner-up in a big field off a mark of 86 at York last July. David Nicholls' gelding has come to hand nicely this season, begin with a third place behind Aldora in the Spring Mile at Doncaster, and most recently an eye-catching eighth in a valuable Rated Stakes at Sandown last week. On that occasion, he did not get much of a run but made good progress under hands and heels inside the final furlong. This drop back in trip should suit him ideally, and he is taken to get the better of the in-form Quito, who scored a deserved success at Musselburgh last time but a five pound rise in the weights might just be enough to anchor him here. Others to note include What A Dancer, who ran some excellent races in defeat last year and starts this season on a fair mark, and Cardinal Venture, who two seasons ago won a competitive handicap at Doncaster from a ten pounds higher mark, and ran well for a long way on his reappearance.
