In depth

Verdict

With neither of the two newcomers making any great appeal and Whiplash appearing to be one of Richard Hannon's lesser lights this is expected to go to Mick Channon's Cheverak Forest. The daughter of Shinko Forest lost no caste in defeat when third behind some race-fit rivals at Brighton on his debut last month and should have learnt from that outing. Whiplash finished last of the nine runners on his debut at Windsor and a bigger danger to the selection from those with experience could be Neville Callaghan's twice raced Stealthelimelight. Giles Bravery is not known for his prowess at producing two-year-olds to win first time out so Amongst Amigos is probably best left out of calculations, while Caspian Dusk hails from a stable that has been strangely quiet with their youngsters this term.
