Verdict
An interesting opener in spite of the small field and HERE NOW AND WHY is taken to win again, although there are dangers in Vilnius and potentially in Falasteen. The Kevin Ryan-trained selection won his maiden with what looked to be a fair bit in hand at Ripon last month and conditions and this minimum trip both suit. He now has to give the best part of a stone to Vilnius but while he is in form we will side with him to defy that weight differential. Vilnuis won a Catterick seller last time, when also proving that trip and ground suit. On the face of it she does not look to have the speed of the selection but she does have a lot less weight here and is respected. Even so, the biggest threat to our pick could be Falasteen. Dandy Nicholls has a much better record with his two-year-olds than he is given credit for and Falasteen is related to numerous juvenile winners over sprint trips. With the yard going well in the spring this Titus Livius gelding is likely to be straight enough and we anticipate a good debut. Cassidy K is another nicely related filly who should act on fast ground, so market support would be interesting, but we will side with Here Now And Why.
