The best race on the card and RAINBOW MIRAGE is nominated ahead of Smarty Socks, Tartan Gunna and course specialist Mozayada. Ed McMahon's consistent gelding comes here on the back of a fair effort at Sandown where he didn't help his chance by missing the break. He is well-drawn for a horse that likes to race up with the pace and although this is his first try at the track, his soft ground form may suggest that he will find the surface to his liking. Foolin Myself ran his best race for some time when last seen at Ascot; it remains to be seen how he will react to the first-time blinkers this afternoon. Mastership is back up in the weights again following a Newcastle win in July, so of more interest may be Mozayada. She sits at the right end of the weights and although her all-weather mark is 15lb higher than her last win on the turf, her record of five wins from ten starts at the track means she commands respect. Captain Ellis should appreciate the return to a mile today and he may be happier without the cheek-pieces tried last time, Miss Glitters likes the track and so does her trainer with a profitable 22% strike-rate here in recent years, whilst Smarty Socks is another course winner who comes here in fair form. Tartan Gunna hasn't been seen since disappointing in the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot; the market should help guide as to what is expected today. Horses such as Bavarian Nordic and Kinsya also have the form to get involved, so this looks a very competitive race, however it is Rainbow Mirage who narrowly gets the nod.
