Ginger Jack must be a player given the good record of Godolphin at the track, however BANANA REPUBLIC shaped with promise on his debut and is taken to see off Wadnaan. The latter could be interesting if the market agrees; should he be less than 4/1 in the morning then one can assume that he has shown enough at home to suggest that this Shamardal colt can play a strong hand. However we prefer the proven Banana Republic who showed some promise on his debut in a hot Newbury maiden in July. The winner has since gone on to be second in the Group Three Acomb Stakes and with improvement to come for this longer trip he is taken to run well. Ginger Jack is a Refuse To Bend colt who is related to plenty of winners, including on this sort of surface over in the US. His draw isn't ideal but it may help him escape some of the kickback. Hairs Vital (rated 67) is modest, newcomers Primrose Bankes and Don Stefano make less appeal than the well-related Set To Rock, whilst improvement is expected from Tenga Venga as he steps up in trip. With an official rating of 80, the Richard Fahey-trained Elmfield Giant should be considered strongly, especially as he shapes as if this longer trip will suit. This should concern just three or four, and from the trio it is Banana Republic who can prevail.
