Having finished second over this trip in similar company at Wolverhampton earlier this month Shatin Hero is bound to be a popular choice for many but Wolverhampton form does not always transfer to Southwell so we prefer to look elsewhere and take a chance with Banutan, who gets the verdict over Second Of May. The last mentioned won a classified stakes race at Brighton at the beginning of last month and has run well in defeat in two subsequent starts, latterly on the Polytrack at Lingfield. She has an obvious chance but, with the stable of Karl Burke in flying form at present, Banutan may be worth a small investment. The selection has had a couple of runs since coming over from Ireland and connections should know a little more about the filly now. She has been given a chance by the handicapper, who has allotted the daughter of Charnwood Forest an all time career low mark of 65 for her debut in the grade in this country and, at the likely odds, she is worth a bet. Of the remainder, Barzak has slipped to an attractive mark and has the assistance of Tony Culhane. Brighton winner Dangerous Beans may not appreciate the drop in trip, while Lord Of Methley and Titian Lass are proving difficult to win with so Banutan is the one that gets the vote.
