Spa Lane is the confident selection in the finale with Hajeer and Great as Gold the others for the shortlist. The selection is a course and distance winner and is in great heart at present after an impressive win last month when beating Lady Laureate at Nottingham. A reproduction of that effort will make him hard to beat. Hajeer is another course and distance winner and he represents the main danger. He ran a shocker of a race at Wolverhampton last week when well supported in the market, but may have needed that run after a break from the track, so should do a good deal better here. Great as Gold is another that would have chances on his best form, but he does not have a great turn of foot and is returning from a break here. Of the rest, Macaroni Gold would be interesting if he is supported in the market, but we are happy to take a chance on the game and consistent Spa Lane.
