Richard Hannon has sent out runners to make the frame in the last ten years in this race but success has eluded him and it may do so again with CRYING LIGHTENING taken to strike. Lily Again finished closer to Memory at Newmarket than Crying Lightening did at Royal Ascot but that doesn't tell the whole story with the field at Newmarket finishing in a bit of a heap in a steadily run race. She should improve for this longer trip but so, too, should the selection who finished second on the far side in the Albany when doing all of her best work in the closing stages suggesting that she'll relish this stiffer test. Penny's Pearl never landed a blow over five in the Queen Mary but is bred to appreciate further than that, Admirable Spirit showed a fine turn of foot when impressing from a decent yardstick in a Newbury maiden but the four horses from the race to have run since have all lost. The other three once raced maiden winners cannot be ignored either but they'll have to up their game in order to lower the colours of Crying Lightening.
