In depth

Verdict

Macvel looked as though she needed every yard of the six furlongs when scoring at Windsor last time and back in trip to the minimum under a 6lb penalty she looks worth taking on which we do with Brunelleschi, who is taken to reverse form with Saxon Saint. The last mentioned has won his last three starts, all in nurseries over five furlongs, but a 6lb penalty for his latest three-quarter of a length defeat of the selection at Newmarket leaves Mark Usher's gelding with more to do. Jamie Osborne's Shermeen is closely matched with Saxon Saint on their running at Brighton at the beginning of the month and cannot be ruled out on the revised terms, while La Fanciulla ran with promise in a course and distance maiden last time and is of interest first time in a handicap. Brunelleschi looks to be going the right way right now though and gets the vote to reverse previous form with Saxon Saint.
