Verdict

A surprisingly small turnout for the finale but we believe that BOMBER BROWN can see off Wing Play and Kidlat. Peter Chapple-Hyam's colt is well named as he showed plenty of tenacity to land a recent handicap at Yarmouth, having made the running and then fought off a series of late challengers. It would be no surprise to see him campaigned under similar tactics here. Polytrack winner Wing Play continues to knock on the door on turf. Second at both Windsor and Chester, the handicapper continues to offer limited respite. Brendan Powell's Kidlat has won off a mark of 72 at Chepstow and plugged on well over course and distance to hit the frame in June. Mafeking was the subject of a sizeable gamble at Kempton and was guilty only of failing to fend off a very late challenge. The market should therefore be checked to see if those backers are on a recovery mission. Road To Love is a previous winner at Sandown though his recent efforts inspire little in the way of confidence. Madam President is tried in a first time tongue-tie whilst Bull Market and Bid For Glory appear best avoided for the time being. Bomber Brown can produce a successful sortie tonight.
